Although Call of Duty: Vanguard will include Zombies mode like six of the past seven titles on the release day, players will have to wait until some time after the release of the first season to try the main quest.

The main quest will not be part of Call of Duty: Vanguard at launch

Treyarch announced that the main quest will not be part of Call of Duty: Vanguard’s November 5th release or the beginning of the first season on December 2nd.

Instead, new Zombies content will be launched as part of the first season of the game. And the main quest will be delayed.

Treyarch didn’t give a release date or window for the main quest

The official Call of Duty website published a post-launch roadmap that called for the “next chapter of Dark Aether” and “new Zombies updates”

Treyarch said “starting on December 2nd, new Zombies content & features will begin to roll out in Vanguard”.

Players will also encounter some other surprise elements later in the first season. They will lay the foundation for our upcoming main quest.

According to Treyarch’s blog on Monday, the main quest is obviously related to the unexpected ally’s arrival after the first season.

We don’t know when this means the main quest will drop. We just look at the Call of Duty: Vanguard roadmap. It details the game plan from the release to the beginning of the first season.

Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies won't include main quest at launch
Treyarch is handling the Zombies mode and Sledgehammer Games is developing the bulk of Vanguard

Sledgehammer is developing most of Vanguard and therefore the World War II arc of the Call of Duty series. Treyarch is working on Zombies mode.

Recently, Treyarch has been busy with Call of Duty, leading the development of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in 2018 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War in 2020.

Vanguard is not the only first-person shooter to add major content after its release.

Halo Infinite, which will be launched next month, will have no cooperative events or Forge when it launches.

Similar to today’s Vanguard Zombies news, both of these features will appear in Halo sometime after Season 1.
