Those who are expecting patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 as a sincere apology from CD Projekt Red (CDPR), unfortunately, you will have to wait a while longer. The reason given by the publisher is the massive attack on the system of hackers.

Cyberpunk 2077 is as great as its name suggests. From the content to the graphics-sound system or the way to guide players to discover the human meaning behind each game scene shows a very thorough investment from CDPR. And many players have spared no words to call this open-world game a “masterpiece”. And after 3 delays, the expectations set on Cyberpunk 2077 are even greater. Then when the game was officially released on December 10, 2020, the players’ eager bubbles were gradually shattered by too many bugs and glitches that seriously affected the experience.

What really happened to Cyberpunk 2077 and CDPR?

Expected release schedule of patches - Cyberpunk 2077: CDPR rescheduled the release of patch 1.2
Expected release schedule of patches

You will experience all kinds of bugs from the sudden acceleration of NPCs or the deformation of the protagonist’s face making him look like a monster to not being able to save the game … CDPR co-founder Marcin Iwiński apologized for the quality of Cyberpunk 2077 in an official video posted on Youtube on January 14, 2020. And two patches 1.1 and 1.2 were immediately introduced by CDPR as a way to put out the burning “fire of anger” in the gaming community. As scheduled, these two patches will be released sometime in early 2021. And CDPR has done it. The hotfixes from patch 1.1 appeared 2 weeks after Iwiński spoke and quickly came into play. Many system errors have been fixed and have somewhat regained players’ trust.

Like other Cyberpunk 2077 fans, I hope patch 1.2 can help me complete my Night City exploration with V. But again, you and I, we will have to wait. The entire source code of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 has been taken over. The CDPR is forced to pay the hackers if it doesn’t want worse things to happen.

The CDPR responded strongly by asserting that the attack had no serious impact and that they were working hard to recover the system. And we have the right to hope again. At the end of February, the loss was once again on the CDPR team, has announced that the 1.2 updates will not be delivered in time. It seems they need more time to recover from the hacker attack and Cyberpunk 2077 becomes a secondary target.

We’re aiming to release in the second half of March“, the official patch 1.2 notifications have been posted on the CDPR website.

Closing Thought

We don’t know if this is a way for the CDPR to delay reconstruction or the hacker attack so badly. But you know, the only thing we can do is keep waiting. Hopefully, all problems in Cyberpunk 2077 will be resolved soon.
