Square Enix surprised many fans when the JRPG juggernaut announced that one of the developer’s flagship franchises would be getting a Final Fantasy battle royale title in Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier.

The seventh major appearance in the long-running RPG series has returned to Square Enix’s attention in recent years following the massive success of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Now, The First Soldier honors another part of the many branches of classic role-playing games with a new costume series.

The announcement of Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier comes at a time when excitement about the future of the franchise is rising, along with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Intergrade re-release and the retelling of the canon in Ever Crisis: Final Fantasy 7.

The First Soldier was announced as a prequel to the original JRPG, making it a battle royale shooter akin to popular titles like Fortnite and PUBG Battlegrounds.

Now the newest member of FF7’s extensive library of spinoffs is getting a costume set based on another spinoff, Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children.

The First Soldier would be receiving several new skins based on Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children

The official First Soldier Twitter account announced on Tuesday that the game will receive several new skins based on Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children.

New “Premium Shinra Packs” will be added to the game which will contain skins based on how Cloud, Tifa, and Barret appeared in Advent Children.

The packs also have options including the Fenrir Bike, based on Cloud’s motorcycle, as well as the Fusion Sword cosmetic in the film.

The skins will be locked behind a limited-time gacha banner

However, the skins will be locked behind a limited time gacha banner. So players will have to spend their in-game currency to spin them to purchase them.

The package price is 300 Shinra currency or 5 Shinra Premium tickets. And the game is having a promotion that allows players to win a large number of tickets while playing the game. The gacha system has come under fire in recent years after the massive success of games like Genshin Impact and Raid: Shadow Legends.

This remake was a huge hit for Square Enix as FF7R was recently ported to computers, and Sony recently allowed PS Plus owners to finally upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version.

With Ever Crisis coming out as a mobile retelling and the second take on the Remake franchise in development, Final Fantasy 7 will seek to continue its supremacy in the future.
