Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier and Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis are the sequels to Final Fantasy 7 Remake. And by applying the philosophy used to create the previous titles, Square Enix brought two universes parallel to the original work. This allows to re-exploit the old story and opens up new directions for players to explore for themselves.
Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier
Not as big a debut as his friend Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade at the main stage of Sony State of Play, but The First Soldier impressed in his way. The First Soldier is a combination of Final Fantasy and very hot survival shooter games like PUPG and Free Fire or Fortnite. In other words, you are experiencing a Battle Royal version of Final Fantasy – something that never happened before.
All events in The First Soldier took place 30 years before FF7 happened. In efforts to increase its strength to defend against potential threats, Shinra Electric Power Company introduces soldiers with upgraded powers. These are steps that are laid out in the SOLDIER project to create special warriors.
Since it is a post-release of FF7 Remake, The First Soldier has a combat mechanic quite similar to its predecessor except that you will not be able to implement the ATB mechanism that will not be applied when executing Abilities or Spell. In addition to the main weapon system with the highest combat effectiveness, the gun, players also have other options such as sword and kick. This helps to diversify the player’s fighting ability during the fight. Besides, the character can also use Material gems to use attack magic, restore and create a shield, a bit of something quite Fornite right? Square Enix was also very creative in transforming the game’s legendary mascot, the Chocobo, into a vehicle alongside traditional motorbikes.
Wondering about battle zones? This is also an ingenuity of Square Enix when taking advantage of locations from FF7 Remake like Slum Church in Sector 5, Wall Market, Slum in Sector 5… I cannot imagine how the locations that I am familiar with will be transformed into gun battles. Monsters and bosses are also used to put into the game to provide equipment. Iris, the god of fire, is also summoned to assist you in the fighting. There’s not too much information on this feature, so it’s still a mystery to wait for.
Currently, we only know the game will release this year on two platforms Android and iOS.
Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis
Since Final Fantasy 7 Remake came out, despite loving the game’s new gameplay, many players always hope that producer Square Enix will remake this legendary game in the classic turn-based RPG gameplay. For those who love the classic, congratulations, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis is for you. This version is promised by the game maker will reintroduce the traditional gameplay that once branded Final Fantasy.
In terms of plot, the Ever Crisis timeline is completely independent of previous versions and will be told as odd chapters. The version will also set aside part of the time to supplement Sephiroth’s younger biography. In addition to the above content, Ever Crisis will also narrate the movie Final Fantasy Advent Children in the form of a game form.
Another breakthrough of Ever Crisis is that the characters will be designed in a very cute chibi style when moving on the map. However, they will return to their original size during combat. This will help ensure a realistic element of the player’s experience.
According to the announcement, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis will be distributed on two platforms, Android and IOS in 2022. However, with such a large amount of content transmission, it is difficult for the game to be released only most once, like on Console or PC. Square Enix is expected to release the game in small installments on a regular schedule.
Closing Thought
Overall, these are two great versions of Final Fantasy to look forward to. But it’s all still waiting for us in the future, right?
