Final Fantasy XIV, becoming one of the most profitable Final Fantasy installments of all. Even Final Fantasy XIV is the most profitable version through the revelation of director Naoki Yoshida. This is justified when the Endwalker expansion version of this MMO reached the 24 million player mark.
During a press conference at the showcase event. Mr. Yoshida said that Final Fantasy 14’s new player base has continued to grow across expansions, over the past 11 years.
Since its release in 2014, Final Fantasy 14th has enjoyed 5 million players. By 2017 that number had grown to 10 million players when the Stormblood expansion was released. Even more shockingly, over the next four years, that number doubled.
“You all know just how hard things were for us with the original Final Fantasy 14,” Yoshida says referencing the MMORPG infamous launch. “Since then, we were able to transform the title into one that provides a major contribution to our company’s profits.”
In an interesting share about Final Fantasy 14, Mr. Yoshida said that it is the most profitable game in the whole franchise.
“It’s perhaps unbecoming of me to say but in terms of our business, we’ve been able to achieve great success. Moving forward, we’re going to spare no expense with our investments to ensure that this game continues to be one which our players can enjoy.”
The continued success of “Final Fantasy 14” is a highlight of the MMORPG field and a true comeback story. Especially after the game version released in 2010 was criticized. But this year alone, the reputation of “Final Fantasy 14” seems to have brought the game into the mainstream.
Just because the upcoming expansion will end a major storyline does not mean that game is over. In his speech, Yoshida talked about the next ten years and thanked the player community for their persistence in the game.
