Recently, a God Of War fan captured the opening battle between Kratos and Poseidon in God Of War 3 in the form of some stunning artwork.

As the final installment of the original God Of War trilogy, 2010’s God Of War 3 becomes the thunderous climax of the Greek adventures of Kratos, which sees the Ghost of Sparta finally play out its bloody vengeance on the Gods of Mount Olympus leading to a brutal clashes against Zeus himself, literally covering the screen with blood.

The first God to fall from Kratos’ hands during God Of War 3 was Poseidon when the God Of The Sea confronted the vengeful Spartan as he stormed Mount Olympus on the back of the gigantic Titan Gaia.

What followed was the first of many intense and challenging battles with God of War bosses as Kratos dodged Poseidon’s watery attacks while cutting off his crab-like appendages with his signature Blades Of Chaos. Meanwhile, Gaia engages in a fight against the Water God. In the end, the Ghost of Sparta wins when the camera shifts to Poseidon’s point of view while Kratos beats the once proud deity to death. It’s a disturbing visual that sets the tone for the dark tale of revenge.

Reddit user bookumuni recently shared a pair of stunning images of the brutal battle between Kratos and Poseidon on the God Of War subreddit (via GameRant).

The first artwork shows Kratos, opposing Poseidon, the orange flames of his Blades Of Chaos contrasting Poseidon’s elemental form glowing blue.

The second only depicts Poseidon himself rising from the sea to avenge those who oppose the will of the Gods.

God Of War has inspired a lot of great fan art over the years, imagining what Kratos would look like in a hypothetical sequel to God Of War in ancient Egypt, or pitting Ghost Of Sparta against Thanos from Avengers: Endgame.

The latest God Of War reboot series has sparked even more captivating what-if scenarios, with fans reimagining Kratos’s long-dead brother Deimos and the mighty Blade of Olympus in the Scandinavian setting of God Of War (2018) and the forthcoming God of War: Ragnarök.

Some fans even drew Kratos in fighting the MCU version of Thor before Sony Santa Monica revealed what God Of Thunder would look like in Ragnarok shortly after the game’s launch trailer on the PlayStation Showcase in September earlier this year.

Kratos’ clash with Poseidon in the back of the massive Titan becomes an interesting start to God Of War 3.

And bookumuni does a great job of capturing the rage of the sea – and the angry demigod who defies whoever orders it.

Kratos may have softened after his bloody rampage against the Gods in the original God Of War trilogy. But his fierce battles against them still impress players a decade later.
