A fan of The Last of Us and God of War chose to visualize what it may resemble if Kratos supplanted Joel as Ellie’s tough friend.

Fans of crossover art are ensured to get a kick out of this new mash-up of God of War and The Last of Us.

The imaginative pictures are only a couple of the many fan-made art pieces featuring characters from these iconic franchises, with one God of War fan setting up a new model of Kratos and Atreus in ancient Greece.

The Last of Us and God of War – Sony’s best-selling games

For some gamers, The Last of Us and God of War are two royal gems of Sony’s massive library of exclusives. They sit right next to other well known franchises like the recent Horizon: Zero Dawn and Marvel’s Spider-Man.

The PlayStation 4’s catalog of games was once criticized for being too singular in its attention on artistic game-film mixtures. However, it has since advanced to incorporate more robust, varied gameplay systems.

Experimental games like 2019’s Death Stranding show Sony’s ability to accept weird and elusive titles. Yet grandiloquent, very much created narrating appears to stay at the highest point of Sony’s needs.

No place is this more evident than in the 2018 delicate reboot of God of War. It saw Kratos leaving Greece behind to embark on a thoughtful excursion which took more than a few queues from The Last of Us.

The equals between the two hit games were recently featured by a couple of Reddit posts.

Reddit client DoomsdayDaveVP initially shared a trio of pictures imagining The Last of Us Part II’s Ellie as the wielder of Kratos’ popular Blades of Chaos, utilizing them to dispatch a Clicker.

DoomsdayDaveVP developed this thought in a later post including pictures of Kratos taking Joel’s position as Ellie’s guardian and mentor.

Fittingly, the second set of pictures also reveals Kratos taking on a Clicker with only his bare hands.

An interesting mash-up, isn’t it?

Something about this mash-up feels strangely fitting
Something about this mash-up feels strangely fitting

Considering the way that The Last of Us was an unmistakable motivation for 2018’s rethinking of God of War, something about this mash-up feels strangely fitting.

Both of these titles adopt a distinctly more true to life strategy to narrating when contrasted with other computer games, with a gigantic The Last of Us TV show not too far off.

Thanks to both games’ emphasis on giving heavy-hitting narratives, characters like Ellie and Kratos have become obvious gaming icons. And seeing them one next to the other is certainly a treat.

It’s not difficult to envision a swapped version of this blend idea. Maybe fans will get an opportunity to see Joel and Atreus facing off against a horde of Norse zombies one day.

In any case, these bits of The Last of Us fan are sure to rouse aspiring modders once God of War comes to PC early in 2022.
